Armory's and VFW's
Shelbyville National Guard Armory - Shelbyville, TN
The Army guys were soooo kind to work with
We started on this setup at the beginning of the week and it took every bit of the 5 days to create this room
The drawback to most armory's is the air conditioning.. none of them had it..
So our bride chose to get air installed for the weekend.. this gets a little pricey but with 400 guests.. the room can get stuffy
quite fast. Now during Oct- March.. you should be able to open the doors to let cool air in.. or use the heat that is available.
The approx costs - per location rental, monitor fees, off duty police officers if any alcohol is served will run approx
$1,500 - $2,000

Smyrna Armory.
The Challenge we had here was there was a lot of room and really tall walls. approx 20 foot tall.
The Armory will not allow ceiling decor.. but doing the walls really "created" a new room..
We can drape the entire walls and not use pipe and drape but we will need an electric lift.

Review From One Source Weddings (Smyrna VFW))
Positives: Large Dance Floor / Stage for DJ or Band / Nice Sized Kitchen / Outside Catering Allowed / VFW can provide bar / alcohol - lots of chairs - not a very expensive place to rent
Drawbacks: Now there are a few drawbacks but nothing that we can't handle. The ceiling MUST be covered
They
provide tables but they are 30" rounds - we rented the larger tables because we
were having a full dinner catering - you may could get by using the small tables
if finger foods only. - you will not be able to have any large arrangements on
the small tables.
You have to walk around to the back of the building for the entrance to the reception area - guests did not seem to mind. -- I loved working on this setup - it can get really expensive pretty quickly because of all the cover up work we do here - this reception pictured above took a total of 28 hours (3 workers) to set up. Please be aware of time issues also - we had to be totally done / taken down all decorations by 8:00 - this means all activities must cease no later than 6:30 P.M.
This was probably one of the favorite reception setups that we did - yes, it took a lot of work , but in the end it was like walking into a bridal magazine.
